- There is certain information that you can except to find on public company sites and which you can be relatively certain you will not find on the private company site (such as detailed financial data).
- Private company sites will often contain information that you not find anywhere else.
- In an effort to maintain a visible web-presence, companies often disclose unexpected, often critical competitive information about themselves.
- SCOUR the web site from front to back; don't assume what you
will find or that you already have the information.
- Look for:
- Career information - what kinds of positions are currently open; what qualifications and qualities do they seek in employees
- Mission/Value Statement
- Investor Relations - company financials, SEC filings, Annual Report, press releases
- Officers and Directors - biographical information/compensation
- Customer - who are their clients
- Products and Services
- Organizational chart/description of functional areas
