Careers in Internal Consulting-- Targeting and Researching Companies
Identifying companies that are good prospects for rotational management programs or use internal consultants requires some advanced searching. You are not searching a particular industry niche but rather individual companies that support these functions and roles.Your targeting strategies will require creativity and persistence:
- Article searches using databases such as Factiva, search for:
- rotational w/2 (training or program or internship)
- internal consult*
- Look for patterns in the industries whose companies offer rotational programs and the internal positions frequently used for internal consulting functions. Take this information and use it to:
- Search company directory databases to target companies by industry/SIC/NAICS code
- Seek out associations and trade journals for particular functions, e.g. HR, Training, etc.
- Seek information from company web sites
- Employment opportunities
- Training programs
- Internships
