International Trade -- Trade Data - International

International organizations provide some trade data on the web. Web-based international trade data may not be as specific or as up-to-date as you would like for your research.

United Nations Web-based Trade Data

Comtrade
The United Nations Statistical Service Commodity Trade Statistics database (Comtrade) collects the most specific and complete cross-country movement of goods but has made only a limited amount available free on the web. Ways to access Comtrade are listed below:

U.N. Comtrade*
The official source for imports, exports and re-exports for 90% of world trade; values in U.S. dollars and quantities in net weight. Several different interfaces are available, including Shortcut Query for novices, and the interactive Basic Selection.

International Trade Center (UNCTAD and WTO) - Comtrade
3-digit SITC Imports and Exports by product or country in $US;  Annual for 5 years;
Select Products and Services/Aggregated Trade Statistics: What country has been the world's largest importer of shellfish for the past five years?

World Trade Analyzer* (CD-ROM in Electronic Data Center and Business Library); U.N. country trade flow data from the Comtrade databank for over 160 countries and regions. EUROSTAT -

Press Releases and limited aggregate data in External Trade. Check out External and intra-European Union trade - Monthly statistics - No 7/2004 (PDF) , the monthly bulletins provide data on short-term trends in the trade of the European Union (considered as a whole) and its member states.

Market Access Database Free source for trade data by country/product between the EU and the rest of the world, measured in Euros. Data can be extracted by 2-, 4-, or 6-digit HS classification. What are Brazil's import and export values for trade in sugars with the European Union? Also includes trade policy by country in the Sectoral and Trade Barriers Database.

Access to other areas of this website is restricted to EU members and candidates.
