Guides -- International Trade
International trade data is available from international organizations, individual countries and from the U.S. government, and commercial sources. Movement of goods and services are tracked by different coding systems, using different levels of specificity. Despite the wide availability of trade data, you may have trouble finding the data you want, in the currency or measurement you want, or for the time period you are researching.
CODING SYSTEMS
Goods and services moving among countries are tracked using one of two official coding systems, specific down to a 10-digit level. These differ from the industry codes used by countries (i.e., U.S. NAICS) and international organizations (i.e., EU NACE).
