Georgia Institute of Technology - GVU Surveys
Georgia Tech's World Wide Web Study was produced twice a year by the Graphics, Visualization and Usability Center, which was housed in Tech's College of Computing. Though lacking the validity of a true scientifically-selected random survey, the GVU survey of Web users provided an interesting and widely-respected snapshot of who's using the Internet. The World Wide Web Survey Council of corporate donors provided partial funding for the project.
The GVU WWW User Survey accumulated a unique store of historical and up-to-date information on the growth and trends in Internet usage. It was valued as an independent, objective view of developing Web demographics, culture, user attitudes, and usage patterns. The focus of the Survey expanded to include commercial uses of the Web, including advertising, electronic commerce, intranet Web usage, and business-to-business transactions.
Ten Surveys were conducted from January 1994 - October 1998
