Emory Libraries Electronic
Data Center (EDC) -
The EDC is located on the 2nd floor of the Woodruff Library. The
center identifies numeric data sources that are relevant, reliable
and useful for research in the social sciences and other disciplines.
And provides high-end workstations and servers that provide users
with access to statistical software and quantitative data.
Types of data available on the EDC Data Freeway:
- National Center for Health
Statistics -Various Survey
and Data Collection Systems are available. Data
sets for aging, births, deaths, health service and service
utilization are also available.
- ICPSR- Inter-University
Consortium for Political and Social Research
Access to ICPSR is through the EDC.
ICPSR contains survey data from the University of Michigan's American Consumer Satisfaction Index 1995 and 1994.
- The Roper Center
for Public Opinion - Data sets are available for
select topics. Contact the EDC for access assistance.
eLab at Vanderbilt University -
eLab provides access to four survey instruments and data sets.
Scientific Research on the Internet at University of Maryland,
College Park -
This portal links to over 10 survey data sets that concern Internet

The library subscribes to many market research reports. Reports
are available in full-text and data can often be exported.
Types of reports available:

Direct access to data from national survey of 25,000+ adult consumers; in-library use only
- Mintel
Consumer Intelligence Reports - Mintel Reports provide consumer
information for food, drink, hobbies, travel, clothing/fashion,
health/medical, beauty/personal, household products, personal
services, automotive, etc. Reports analyze market sizes and trends,
market segmentation, consumer attitudes, purchasing habits, and
the future of the market.
Majority of reports cover US and UK. Some also cover Germany, France, Italy, Spain or Europe.
New users must Create a Profile the first time they use the database.
- eMarketer - eMarketer contains IT focused market research reports. eMarketer primarily aggregates data from leading market research firms such as IDC, Gartner, Forrester, Yankee Group, government, non-profit, and academic sources.
- Global
Market Information Database - GMID
contains over a million historic and forecast demographic, economic and marketing statistics
for 205 countries worldwide. Profiles and analyze trends
from 1977-2015.
Includes a huge range of lifestyle indicators such as eating and drinking habits, home ownership trends and crime patterns for 71 countries worldwide. Create statistical profiles of lifestyle indicators to compare market conditions around the world.
